okay, now by show of hands, how many knew that sunday, june 21 was #thelongestday, the day of awareness for alzheimer’s + brain health awareness?
it’s okay if you didn’t. in fact, i hope you didn’t. because if you didn’t, i hope that means you’ve never been impacted by alzheimer’s or brain health concerns.
the whole day was about doing something you are passionate about, in honor of those who are battling, have lost the battle, or are caring for loved ones with alzheimer’s.
so, i’m so proud to say that i got to spend some time on sunday, june 21, doing what i love to do: designing, creating + honoring my mimi in my studio with a brand new, custom-designed canvas!
in may, when i was at the ladies lilac luncheon, i had the honor of meeting a young woman, who was a st. mary’s catholic school alum, who loved the canvases i made. she had just re-decorated her bedroom, and was looking for something to help add some decor to her room. we chatted, we talked about colors, what she liked, what she didn’t, and we figured out what she might like. i was so excited to get to work on this special piece for her room this weekend, not only because i love any new, custom project, but because the elements of the piece so perfectly fit something that my mimi would have loved.

two of her favorite things! i mean, could it have been any more perfect that i got to design + complete this piece on a day all about showing your passion in support of alzheimer’s awareness? it felt right to me. 🙂
