this year, i was not mom of the year when it came to celebrating little mr. re-nest #2’s birthday on time. at all. not even close. the poor child’s birthday falls on/around memorial day weekend, so my (flawed) logic said, “let’s have a summer party, when people are around!”
guess what? summer came and we were going along and i didn’t make a single party move. we talked about it. we threw around some dates. and, then i had a total mommy guilt meltdown, and i set a date + picked a place.
the good thing was that all along, we had a party theme (which is one of the biggest hurdles to overcome!) his fourth birthday was set as a “chicka chicka boom boom” party (note: his favorite book, mama’s color palette dream)
so, while this party was a late one, and while a lot of it came together at kind of the last minute, i loved every minute of putting this idea together. and, not to mention the pure, innocent excitement that our little guy had for his “chicka chicka boom boom party!” (which made me feel even more mama guilt for not having done it sooner!) the color palette is probably my fave one of all the parties i’ve done so far, and the simplicity of the coconut trees was just perfect (plus, it was the perfect time to throw a party with coconut themed decorations…end of summer + the party stores were clearing out beach and luau party supplies!)
here we go, friends…in the words of my adorable four-year-old little boy: “this was the best party ever!” (all of my helpers + sources are listed below!)
- gorgeous peanut-free cake by nutphree’s bakery! cake topper + giant book by this mama!
- finding the font from the book was one of my biggest wins!
- birthday chalkboard by kathleen kilburg photography!
- i have so much love for my husband. two days before the party, i said, “hey, can you make me a palm tree?” #boom
- kids party = a need for honest juice!
