the start of this adventure + why i keep going

i’ve been thinking a lot lately about the beginning of this adventure, fourteen years ago. it was a much different place, a much different time in my life, and many, many things have grown and changed. i’ve always thought of re-nest studio as my outlet for creativity + for something all my own. something i started from scratch. something that allowed me to create in a way that i couldn’t in my 8-to-5 professional life. it’s certainly evolved through the years to the paper art i have always loved creating to party design to kicking off crafts + kids in the midst of a worldwide pandemic to creating acrylic fun stuff to now sharing even more from a lifestyle POV. (side note: i feel anymore like i’m spending way more time creating stuff in the kitchen than in my craft room, but i’m going to say that’s probably par for the course when you have two teen kiddos in the house that need fed.)

the story of us canvas wall art. one of my favorite designs to help families snap a moment in time in their story.

as time has gone on, i’ve realized that at my core, i’m a storyteller. i like telling stories. my stories. helping others tell their stories. helping little ones find part of their story with creativity. telling stories with art + with food. it’s funny that after twenty-five+ years in my daytime profession, this is also who i am: a storyteller. having built and cultivated a career that helps brands and companies tell their stories is what i love, and how perfectly perfect is it that doing the same thing for others through art helps build all of my creativity?

so why do i keep on this adventure? to help share stories with the world. and i love it.

every party. every special event. every piece of keepsake artwork. every kids craft project i get to share. it’s all to help share your stories with your world.

so while this all started from one birthday party (my oldest’s first birthday), one comment from my dad (“hey, you know you could sell these decorations.”), one online class through kishwaukee college on how to start a craft business + a whole lot of love and support from all of my guys, today it has grown in a way that i’m proud of that has grown with me.

whether you’re an og or new here, thank you. thank you for continuing on with me + growing along with me.
