sweet monograms for twins

y’all know i love a new baby. (seriously, who doesn’t?) that smell. those hands. the toes. (ahhhhhh.) and, y’all know i love a good monogram project. combine the two + the fact that we’re talking twins, and well, i’m in heaven. (actually, add in there that these babies just happen to be born to my bestie, and i’m in total euphoria! which i think kinda means i’m their unofficial auntie, right?!?)

not only was this an awesomely fun project to design just because these babes are like my family, but their mama + daddy just happen to have very similar decorating taste as mr. re-nest + i do. (think mid-century modern.) and once mama showed me some other art + décor pieces that were going in their shared nursery, the designing began!

i love that their nursery went with a bolder color palette (think orange, turquoise, black + a touch of magenta with soft grey cribs) with modern, geometric touches. i was able to sneak a peek at some of their pieces via text + in-person, which totally gave me the inspiration for their little monogram pieces for their nursery!

trying to keep space to a minimum, i went with designing these on 12″ x 12″ canvases. both have their own color palette – black, turquoise + orange for the little man; turquoise, orange + magenta for the baby girl. i knew i was going with the brushstroke border treatment, and once that was done, i knew it needed something else.

i contemplated doing paper circles….and then decided to take a chance. a little acrylic paint + one of my sponge brushes, and i decided to make asymmetrical circles in paint to add a little extra something to the background! the finishing touch was of course their initials (in a pretty gender neutral font), and we have the finished pieces!

i’m so excited that these are on their way to their nursery + can’t wait to see these babes this week!
