a happy hole-in-one first birthday!

i absolutely love a first birthday! i love the themes, i love the squishy babies, i love seeing the families smile at the celebration of one of the biggest days of their lives. it was my first baby’s first birthday that sort of launched all of this re-nest studio stuff (little known fact: it was my dad looking around at the decor and saying, “you know, you could sell this stuff” that got me going.) so when i’m asked to help make a first birthday super special for a baby, i always jump at the chance!

last week i got to do this for a super special family that i have been lucky enough to make birthday decor for for lots of their birthday celebrations. mama had told me months back that she had already chosen his first birthday theme: a hole-in-one first birthday! i was so super excited…several years ago, i had created a golf themed party for one of my boys, so i still had lots of ideas and cool props that we could incorporate into this sweet baby’s special day.

my mama friend asked for a high chair banner (super cute!), one of the larger banners i usually make for her kiddos, and the open ask for something else cute to add to the table (this sweet baby wasn’t able to have a cake due to food allergies, so we wanted to do a little extra something for his day!) i started off with his high chair banner (i adore making high chair banners!) mama and i had settled on a green, shades of blue, and white color scheme…what i love about a golf theme is there are so many natural design elements to incorporate in to decor. the flag shapes, numbers, textures, the golf balls. i loved getting to figure out how to make all of this come together!

the high chair banner was so adorable! i did a base layer of a really pretty french blue with an overlay of grass green, which gave that tee flag feel. i played around with making the white circles printed golf balls, but decided to add the tees i had on hand as a little extra something to make this banner stand out!

{don’t you love that grass in the photo? i had this runner in my stash from when my oldest had his golf party, and this little one’s mama was able to use it for her party decor!}

i mentioned above this mama asked me if i could make something a little extra special for this party. we usually always do a cake topper for all of her kiddos’ parties, but a cake wasn’t in the cards for this sweet boy because of allergies. (that nearly broke my heart…we’ve been through that too.) i had the idea to do a cute little terra cotta pot as a golf green with the extra tees and squeezy golf balls i still had in my stash, finished off with a handmade tee flag with the “one” for the birthday boy!

i can’t thank this mama enough for asking me to help make her babies’ birthdays so special. it makes me so incredibly happy to see how her kiddos’ create their themes and love what we’re able to come up with!
