alright friends, we took our very first family road trip two weeks ago for spring break. and, it was everything i could have imagined. leading up to it, mr. re-nest had concerns. justified concerns, seeing as little mr. re-nest no. 2 can’t go from our house to naperville without asking us “if we’re there yet” before we even get on the interstate. i did all i could to promise him that they would be fine. they’d be good. there would be plenty of movies to watch to keep them occupied. and, snacks. that with snacks + movies, we would conquer this road trip with no issues.
for the most part, we did. i loved driving. getting to show the boys parts of this country that they’d never seen, and make stops in places they would never get to experience without our road trip. they were champs. rock stars. and, it totally makes me want to plan next year’s road trip! (note: what part doesn’t want me to plan next year’s trip? the feeling of getting out of the car and being unable to straighten out this achy body. i seriously think we need to take a massage therapist on the next trip.)
